Britain's Katy Sexton has won the women's 200m backstroke title at the World Championships in Barcelona.

Sexton is now the only British swimmer ever to win an individual event at world championships level.

She beat Margaret Hoelzer of the United States into second place, with Stanislava Komarova of Russia in third.

Britain won a second medal on Saturday in the men's 50m freestyle, when Mark Foster took silver behind winner Alex Popov of Russia.

Second championships gold

The gold medal is Britain's second of the championships, after James Gibson took gold in the men's 50m breaststroke earlier in the week.

A second British swimmer, Sarah Price, was also in the backstroke final, but only could only finish in eighth and last place.
