West Ham battle against Middlesbrough
West Ham United 1-0 Middlesbrough
A Trevor Sinclair goal with 13 minutes left kept West Ham's hopes of avoiding relegation alive, but only just.

The England international earned a vital three points for West Ham, to move them within three points of Leeds.

However the Yorkshire side have played one game fewer than the Hammers, and should they win that game in hand the six-point gap would be back.

Liverpool 2-1 Charlton Athletic
Two late goals for Liverpool left them one point of the Champions League after coming back from a goal down against Charlton.

Sami Hyypia and Steven Gerrard netted the vital late goals for the home side, after Shaun Bartlett put the visitors in front.

Chelsea 3-1 Everton
Chelsea jumped above Newcastle into third place in the league with a comfortable win against Everton at Stamford Bridge.

Eidur Gudjohnsen, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Jesper Gronkjaer scored for the home side, with Lee Carsley bagging a consolation for Everton.

Newcastle 1-1 Aston Villa
Newcastle slid to fourth place in the Premiership after Dion Dublin equalised Nolberto Solano's free-kick opener.

Newcastle striker Alan Shearer had to be subbed in the second half when a cut on his head wouldn't stop bleeding despite lots of medical treatment.

Birmingham 3-2 Southampton
Two goals from Christophe Dugarry put Birmingham within one point of safety, beating FA Cup finalists Southampton.

Anders Svensson and Brett Ormerod scored for Southampton, with Bryan Hughes grabbing the other goal for the home side.

Blackburn Rovers 0-0 Bolton Wanderers
Bolton gained another point as they edge closer to survival, after a goal less draw with Lancashire rivals Blackburn at Ewood Park.

Man City 3-0 Sunderland
Relegated Sunderland were no match for Manchester City, with two goals from Marc Vivien Foe and one from Robbie Fowler enough for City.

West Bromwich Albion 2-3 Tottenham Hotspur
Robbie Keane netted twice for Spurs to earn his side all three points against already relegated West Brom.

West Brom twice went in front through Danny Dichio and Neil Clement, before Keane and Teddy Sheringham scored for the visitors.
