  Confusion about England's Zimbabwe game
Updated 10 February 2003, 17.59
England haven't decided if they'll play in Zimbabwe
There's still confusion over whether England will play Zimbabwe in Cricket's World Cup on Thursday.

The English team don't want to play, because they received threats saying they'll be killed if they take part.

England had to tell the organisers what they were doing by 2pm on Monday.

At first the team's managers, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), seemed to say England were pulling out. But then they denied it.

So now no one knows what's happening, and the deadline has passed!

What will happen next?

The game is controversial because many countries don't like how Zimbabwe is run by its harsh leader, President Robert Mugabe.

Should England pull out of the game, Zimbabwe will get all four points for winning the match.

That would make it extremely difficult for England to qualify for the second round of the competition.

The decision could also be very costly for the ECB.

They will have to pay a big fine to the tournament organisers for pulling out of the match.

Another effect could be that both Zimbabwe and South Africa refuse to come to England to play matches here this summer.
