Cartoon gets United in the derby mood
Updated 06 February 2003, 15.54

Manchester United have started the war of words before Saturday's derby with Manchester City in a new cartoon launched called The Oddkinsons.

In the three-minute animation Terence Oddkinson and his best mate Colin talk about the City game at Old Trafford.

Anti-City

But they're not very nice about their team's rivals, and use manager Kevin Keegan's famous "I'd love it" catchphrase 18 times.

That comes from a famous incident on live TV in 1996 when Keegan was the boss of Newcastle City.

His team were involved in a tight battle with Man United for the Premiership, and Keegan and Sir Alex Ferguson were both trying to wind the other up.

When Sir Alex suggested opposition teams tried harder against his side, Keegan went mad saying "I'd love it if we beat them".

But United won the title that year, and Keegan has never been able to forget his outburst.
