  Heskey not fit for England
Updated 16 October 2002, 17.11
Emile Heskey
England striker Emile Heskey won't be winning his 32nd cap for his country against Macedonia after suffering an injury.

England bosses revealed they won't be picking him for the European Championship qualifier because they don't think it's fair to his club, Liverpool.

Leeds United's Alan Smith is most likely to take his place up front alongside Michael Owen at St Mary's Stadium in Southampton.

Another change will see Sol Campbell regain his place in defence, while the midfield may see a reshuffle too, as coach Sven Goran Eriksson looks to start Paul Scholes in central midfield instead of on the left.

MIllennium Stadium
The roof will be up at the Millennium Stadium
In-form Wales will play Italy under cover at the Millennium Stadium after both coaches agreed that the risk of heavy rain was enough to close the roof at the ground.

Hopes are high in Wales that they can get a good result against the Italians, who have lost a number of players through injury before the match.

The Republic of Ireland have a must-win showdown with Switzerland in Dublin, after losing their opening Euro 2004 qualifier 4-2 in Russia.

A win will also be good for the team in a week which has once again seen their former captain Roy Keane in the headlines and manager Mick McCarthy revealing he will quit the job in 2004.

Northern Ireland face another tough match after their 3-0 loss to Spain.

They play the Ukraine in Belfast, although a number of injuries could give the Irish the chance of famous victory against a team ranked 51 places above them.
