  Uefa Cup: Chelsea out
Updated 04 October 2002, 07.45
Chelsea's John Terry scored their second goal
Viking 4-2 Chelsea

Chelsea are out of the Uefa Cup after a convincing defeat by Viking

It's the third time in three years running that Chelsea have been knocked out in the first round.

A final goal by Viking's Erik Nevland, a former Manchester United player, sealed Chelsea's fate for another year.

Zaporizhzhya 1-1 Leeds

Leeds' Nick Barmby scored their vital equaliser
Leeds are through to the second round after a 1-1 draw in the Ukraine.

Irakli Modebadze scored for Zaporizhzhya after 52 minutes, but Nick Barmby equalised after 76 minutes, ensuring Terry Venable's side went through to the next round.

Rangers 3-1 Viktoria Zizkov

Rangers are also out of the Cup despite a 3-1 win on Thursday, as Viktoria Zizkov won on away goals.

Ronald de Boer scored twice for the Rangers and put them into extra time, and a third goal from Neil McCann put the Rangers in the lead on aggregate.

But Viktoria's Marcel Licka got a vital goal for his team after 100 minutes, and put his side through.

Fulham 2-2 Hajduk Split

Steed Malbranque's penalty put Fulham through
Fulham are still in the Cup after a 2-2 draw at home, which meant they won 3-2 on aggregate.

Jean Tigana's side had already beat Split in Croatia two weeks before, and a goal from Steve Marlet and a Steed Malbranque penalty ensured another victory.

Sartid Smederevo 0-1 Ipswich

Ipswich are through to the second round after a penalty by Marcus Bent after just nine minutes.

But their victory over the Yugoslav club was marred by allegations of racist abuse against Ipswich, who are now thinking of making an official complaint to European football's governing body.

CSKA Sofia 3-3 Blackburn

Blackburn are also through to the second round after a 3-3 draw in Bulgaria.

But it was a tough match. Blackburn were romping ahead with a 3-0 advantage, with just half an hour to go, when Sofia came back and managed to equalise.

But Blackburn are still through on away goals.

Other scores:

Livingston 4-3 Sturm Graz

Suduva 0-2 Celtic

H Berlin 1-0 Aberdeen
