The Queen brought her brolly as she watched balloons and fireworks light up the sky.

A Jubilee gift

Children and DJ Grandmaster Flash made some noise and delighted her with a hip-hop version of the classical Handel anthem which was played at her Coronation.

Will Young was also there to croon to the soaking crowds.

The children covered themselves with red, blue and white paint to make an enormous Union Jack flag.

And they used 1,600 paint brushes to do a massive portrait of the Queen as a Jubilee present.

Star golds

Fact File
GB medals
England: 54 golds, 51 silvers, 60 bronzes (165 total)
Scotland: 6 golds, 8 silvers, 16 bronzes (30 total)
Wales: 4 golds, 15 silvers, 12 bronzes, 31 (total)
N Ireland: 2 golds, 2 silvers, 1 bronze, (5 total)

Then the stars of the Games with their medals carried their national flags into the stadium to say their final farewells.

Australian swimming legend Ian "Thorpedo" Thorpe shone with his six golds - a record amount of gold medals.

Then the official Games flag was handed over to the host country for the next Games in four years time - Melbourne.

But the Manchester stadium which saw so many Games records smashed doesn't have a rest.

It's to be turned into a 50,000-seater football stadium which will be home to Manchester City from the start of the 2003/4 season.
