Urban games prepare to get extreme
Updated 26 July 2002, 19.37

Skaters, bikers and boarders buffed up their helmets and donned their pads on Friday for the start of the Urban Games 2002.

Click here to win a BMX bike and skateboard!

The games are in their fourth year now and feature some of the world's top skaters and bikers, as well as graffiti artists and breakdancers.

Fact File
Who will there?
UK and US BMXers Simon Tabron, Clint Miller, Colin McKay
Top skaters Emilio Arnaz, Rodney Clarke and Danny Wainwright competing for 30,000 prize
Breakdancing hosted by DJ Hooch and an exhibition of graffiti

And to help the skaters along, there are DJs mixing and scratching all weekend.

But for those who want to keep their feet firmly on the ground, there are Xbox games booths to try out some extreme action on.

About 25,000 people are expected to turn up to the Games in south London which go on until 28 July.

Check out our special report from the Games next week!
