What advice would you give to budding athletes?
Take part in all sports with enthusiasm. If you are really keen, go to an athletics club and have a go at all the track and field events. Taking part in sport is a great experience - it's something that should be done for pleasure.
Your daughter Imani is six now. Is she interested in sport?
She has been coming to training camps with me and my husband - who's my coach - since she was six weeks old. From the time she could walk, she would try and jog a lap! She likes running and football, but I'll just wait and see what she wants to take up whether it's running, judo or gymnastics.
How do you feel about your home city hosting the Commonwealth Games?
It's exciting for Manchester to host such a massive event and the sports facilities we're going to be left with are going to be extremely special. Also, you cannot under-estimate the home advantage - you only have to look at the Sydney Olympics, where the home athletes did better than expected.
Which events are you especially looking forward to?
The women's 800m, which was my event. Jo Fenn smashed her personal best in the trials, so she will be one to look out for. The men's 100m has to be one of the key events. Our top four guys - Darren Campbell, Dwain Chambers, Mark Lewis-Francis and Jason Gardener will all want to win, but we can't discount the likes of Frankie Fredericks from Namibia. I think there will be a few fireworks.
How do you chill out?
I like to spend time with my family. My husband recently bought me a skateboard. Imani's got a scooter and my husband's got roller blades. We go out and enjoy the fresh air and try to look cool!
