The sisters collect their prizes
Serena Williams beat Venus Williams 7-6 (7/4) 6-3

Serena Williams, the world's number one women's tennis star, has beaten sister Venus to scoop her first Wimbledon title.

She beat her older sister in a quick match which was not all that exciting for a final.

But she always looked much more likely to win than Venus, who has won twice before.

Serena took the chance of a lead when she made a break in the fourth game.

Her sister had other ideas though. Eight straight points from Venus when 5-4 down meant the girls had to go to a tie-break.

Serena's powerful hitting from the baseline saw her go ahead 4-2 and she managed to finish the set with an ace.

Venus was beginning to flag by the start of the second set but managed to get her strength up once more.

She managed a break-point with the score at 1-1, but was soon flattened again by Serena's strong aces, backhands and baseline play.

There were no hard feelings though as the sisters gave each other hug at the net before Serena went on to collect her shiny trophy.
