Ruud van Nistelrooy has been voted the best player in the Premiership by the rest of the players in England's top league.

The Manchester United striker took home the Professional Footballers Association Player of the Year prize, beating Arsenal duo Thierry Henry and Robert Pires into second and third.

After picking up the award van Nistelrooy said: "This is the proudest moment so far in my career. I have been voted by the players of the Premier League and that is the best league in Europe at the moment."

You voted for Beckham

Young player winner Craig Bellamy
The Dutchman has had a terrific first season in England, at one stage scoring in eight league games in a row, as well as helping his team to the Champions League semi finals.

But you didn't agree with the way the players voted, preferring David Beckham as the winner in the CBBC Newsround vote, although Van Nistelrooy did finish second.
