  Cricket: England on top after huge test scores

Graham Thorpe helped guide England to an excellent position against New Zealand in the first test with an amazing double century.

He smashed 200 not out - his highest Test score - as England grabbed a massive 468 for the loss of six wickets in their second innings.

England declared at the end of the third day knowing it was a day to remember with pride.

New Zealand now have two days to try to score an almost impossible 550 to win.

Andrew Flintoff helped things along by scoring the first century of his career.

He made 137, after three previous innings where he failed to score, so he was please to turn things around.

Thorpe dedicated the first double hundred of his Test career to his two children.

He said: "It was very satisfying. I dedicate a 100 to each of my children."
