Updated 21 February 2002, 07.02
Ruud Van Nistelrooy celebrates scoring with his Man Utd team-mates
Nantes 1-1 Man Utd

A last-minute Ruud van Nistelrooy penalty earned Manchester United a 1-1 draw at Nantes in Group A of the Champions League.

The English champions paid the price for a poor opening when Viorel Moldovan put the home side ahead after just eight minutes.

United fought back into the game and Van Nistelrooy unusually missed several chances, before converting from the spot in the dying seconds.

Manager Alex Ferguson was relieved to get a point: "We created a lot of chances, but their goalkeeper - he was fantastic."

Liverpool 0-0 Galatasaray

Emile Heskey and Michael Owen couldn't break the deadlock
Meanwhile, Liverpool were held 0-0 by Turkish side Galatasaray at Anfield in Group B.

Steven Gerrard was carried off with an injury during a miserable night for Liverpool.

He went down after stretching for the ball with nobody near him.

There's now concern for his World Cup chances.

Liverpool made enough efforts to win but just couldn't follow through.
