  Fast fingers break text record
Updated 06 May 2004, 13.29
Mobile Phone
James Trusler's nifty fingers have earned him the title of fastest texter.

The mobile network engineer, who lives in Australia, won the title by tapping a 160-character message in one minute seven seconds, breaking his own record.

The message he tapped out read:

The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human.

James, 30, reckons he sends a whopping 4,000 texts a month- that's more than 100 a day!

World champ

"I just text all the time. I even book my haircuts by text," he said

He took part in his first texting championship in September 2002, and was crowned Australian Champion.

A Guinness Book of Records official confirmed that since last September's contest he's World Champ too.

The quickest the Newsround Online team could manage was two minutes 34 seconds, and the slowest a rather rubbish 10 minutes 34!
