  Saturn mission shows amazing pics
Updated 30 April 2004, 16.52
Great new pictures of Saturn have been taken - (Image: Nasa/JPL)
A spacecraft has given the world an amazing new view of Saturn, from a distance of 48 million km away.

The Cassini-Huygens mission started in October 1997, and is now just two months away from the planet, where it will start a four-year study.

Once there, the Cassini part of the craft will orbit the planet while the Huygens part lands on the moon Titan.

Scientists hope to find out loads about the planet - which is made almost entirely of gas - and its 31 moons.

Titan, which is bigger than the planet Mercury, is the largest of these and has its own separate atmosphere.

The picture was taken on 26 March and is made up of three different exposures, one red, one green and one blue.

The Cassini-Huygens mission is a joint project between the US and European space agencies (Nasa and Esa) and the Italian Space Agency.
