JK led users of her website a merry dance by making them first play a game of online darts. If they did well enough, a safe was revealed.

If they cracked the code, the safe opened and there was a passage from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Several newspapers are carrying reports of the stunt, but the passage has now vanished from JK's site.

We can tell you what you missed, though.

The first line said: "He looked rather like an old lion."

It went on: "There were streaks of grey in his mane of tawny hair and his bushy eyebrows; he had keen yellowish eyes behind a pair of wire-rimmed spectacles and a certain rangy, loping grace even though he walked with a slight limp."
