The study is part of Safer Internet Day, which hopes to help kids and their parents learn more about using the internet in a safer way.

The research showed that fewer kids are using chatrooms, but of those that are, more are meeting people in real life.

According to the study lots of the children still using chatrooms take risks in real life, so are more likely to ignore warnings not to meet people they chat to.

One of the most important things the research has shown is that kids and their parents need to talk through how the internet is used together.
