  Nasa to rethink Hubble decision
Updated 30 January 2004, 20.25
The Hubble telescope
American space agency Nasa has agreed to rethink its decision to abandon the Hubble telescope.

The decision was made earlier this month but, after people wrote to Nasa asking to keep the telescope going, a review is now underway.

Nasa was worried about sending shuttles to the telescope following last year's Columbia disaster. Without help, Hubble would stop working in a few years.

Hubble has sent amazing images back to earth since it was launched in 1990.

One of the people campaigning to keep the telescope going said: "Hubble has made so many extraordinary contributions to science, exploration and discovery."

The review is being carried out by the same man who led the investigation into the Columbia accident.
