Could this be the paw of a yeti?!
Updated 09 October 2003, 15.14
The paw
Climbers in Siberia have discovered the mummified paw of a mystery creature thought to have walked the earth thousands of years ago.

Scientists are carrying out tests to see if it belonged to a yeti!

Nobody has ever had proof that they exist, but loads of people believe the hairy creature is real.

Found in the mountains

The paw was found 3,500 metres up in the mountains in Russia's remote Siberia region.

The climber who found it said: "I turned the limb over and examined the sole of the foot, and I thought it looked unusual, so I decided to bring it back with me."

So is it a yeti?

Local people say the creature must have walked on snow, because the sole of the foot is furry. They have already labelled the discovery as the foot of a yeti.

Scientific tests and x-rays show that the bones are several thousand years old, but attempts to identify the creature they belonged to are still inconclusive.

So the mystery of whether yetis really do exist still remains unsolved... for now anyway!
