School competition to design Mars probe
Updated 09 September 2003, 18.53

Britain's first mission to Mars, the Beagle Two, will land on the red planet on Christmas day, and here's your chance to get involved.

EADS Astrium, the company who made it, want you to design a spacecraft to move about on Mars.

Every school across the country is being invited to enter a team of six kids aged 11 to 14.

Creative

The teams will have to give a presentation about their idea, with pictures, technical information and a scale model of their vehicle.

Barrie Kirk, who is in charge of the Beagle 2 mission, hopes that this will get you going.

He said "We hope the challenge will spark some really wild and creative ideas."
