	The PSP: what to expect
		Games will come on minidisc style cartridges
		Will be able to show around two hours of video
		Flat screen a bit bigger than a GBA
		Will be able to connect to PS2, like GBA and GameCube

It's going to be called the PlayStation Portable or PSP, and will be a big rival to Nintendo's really successful Gameboy Advance.

Sony said that the new handheld will have a backlit screen (like the GameBoy Advance SP) that can show DVD quality images.

Sony bosses surprised the gaming world

Sony made their announcement just before a giant gaming conference in the US called E3, where companies show off their upcoming games.

Expected at the show in Los Angeles this year are big games like Halo 2, Gran Turismo 4, Mario Kart Double Dash and The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords.
