Here in the city that's home to NASA's Mission Control, they're fiercely proud of the Space Agency.
And Saturday's tragedy has hit them especially hard. 'We're all still in shock,' one person told me.
During Tuesday's Memorial Service people lined the city's streets, a few listening on radios while children and adults laid flowers at the entrance to the Space Center.
From most of the people, the message seemed to be the same. They'll never forget what happened to the Space Shuttle Columbia.
