But even that success is blown away by Sony's PlayStation 2, which sold more than a million consoles in the first two weeks of the Christmas shopping period.

Even so these numbers do suggest good news for Microsoft, because they suggest the Xbox is doing loads better than Nintendo's GameCube.
Microsoft say the Xbox is selling twice as quickly as the GameCube in the UK, and also reckon it's been a bigger seller in the US for the last seven months.
