Gaming is now a massive business, making more money in America over the last two years than the amount made from selling cinema tickets.
The marketing company, In-Stat/MDR, also think online gaming is going to take off in a big way, boosted by the arrival of the next generation of consoles - expected in 2005.
The survey topped a really bad day for Nintendo, who were fined an incredible £100m by the European Commission for breaking business rules between 1991 and 1998.
In Britain games were much cheaper than in the rest of Europe, but Nintendo stopped British games being sold anywhere else, keeping the prices high and breaking the rules.
