  Are talking texts next?

Talking text messages
Normally it's mobile phone companies who are coming up with new technology to try and make people want to buy new phones.

But this time it's a boy from Devon with the brainwave, and it's a really useful idea that could help loads of kids.

Mesar Hamid, who is visually impaired, was on a school trip to the BT Tower in London when he complained that his disability made it difficult to read text messages.

And since texting is such a massive part of kids' lives, Mesar felt left out, and asked if BT could help him get involved with the text generation.

Now the phone company has built a special talking palm-top computer which can read mobile phone text messages aloud.

But they aren't planning on putting the new idea into mobiles just yet because it's very difficult to programme a phone to be able to read out texts aloud.
