The mobile that's thin enough to post
Updated 26 May 2002, 14.51
You could post your phone!
Mobile phones seem to be getting smaller and smaller, but get ready for the mobile that's so thin can be posted like a letter!

The wafer-thin letter-phone, called PS Call Me, squashes all its electronic bits and pieces into a flat computer chip that can be stuck onto paper.

Mobile for your birthday!

The days before wafer-thin phones!

Phone designer, Stephen Forshaw, reckons it would make the perfect alternative to a birthday card.

If it was sent as a card, whoever receives it would be able contact the sender by pressing the call button, just like a normal phone.

And the sender could record their own special greetings message on the phone too.

The phones could be on sale for just a tenner. But that's expensive considering it's only capable of making one call at the moment!

Mr Forshaw reckons the skinny phone could also be quite useful for making sure children or the elderly could make an emergency call if they don't own a proper mobile.
