Video games to help you relax
Updated 09 May 2002, 14.58
The relaxing video games are the brainchild of Gary McDarby and his MindGames team
Most video games are designed to get your pulse racing, but soon there could be games to help you chill out.

It's hoped the special games will help people to forget their worries.

Gary McDarby came up with the idea 10 years ago when he met a 12-year-old child soldier who'd been suffering from nightmares after taking part in a firing squad.

He found the boy was able to sleep better after listening to a tape of relaxing music on a walkman.

Sensors work out how relaxed you are and enable you to play the game

With this is mind he and his team set about developing technology that would help people to relax in a similar manner.

Dragon racing

One of the games they've since developed is a two-player dragon racing game called Relax To Win.

The idea is simple. Sensors are attached to the player's fingers and the more the person relaxes, the faster the dragon moves.

The first person to make the dragon fly up into the air wins.
