Some 3,000 UK schoolchildren have broken a world record for building the largest DNA model.

The massive model, which was more than 10m high, was created in a shopping centre in Stoke-on-Trent as part of Science Week.

The shape of a DNA molecule, called a double helix, is quite familiar, but this is the first time a model this large has been built.

It has over 1,500 atoms and was built to mark National Science Week.

It was unveiled at the Potteries Shopping Centre.

Staffordshire and Cheshire schoolchildren helped to make it, along with celebs from the world of science and art.

And their efforts were rewarded when Guinness World Records announced it is a record-breaker.

It'll be on display for a few days and will then need a new home.
