It's on its way to becoming the fastest and biggest-selling computer game ever.

It's designed to have the feel of a movie blockbuster and is said to have the best graphics of any game so far.

Players take the role of anti-terrorist commando, Snake, who has to save a weapon of mass destruction, Metal Gear, from a Russian gang.

It follows on from the first Metal Gear Solid game, which has sold six million copies worldwide.

The record for weekend sales was previously held by wrestling game WWF Smackdown, which sold 120,000 copies in 2000.
