Computer games could stop travel sickness
Updated 18 January 2002, 16.22
Game player
Virtual reality computer games could hold the key to beating travel sickness.

UK scientists are seeking 200 volunteers to test the idea.

Queasy

They think the body can adjust to the sort of motion that makes people feel queasy in cars or aeroplanes.

In the tests, a virtual reality racing car game will be used to mimic the feeling of travel sickness.

The volunteers will be asked to say how they are feeling while they're playing the game.

The next step will be to see if someone who has become used to virtual motion will cope better when put in a car or plane.
