  Beckham computer game launched
Updated 15 October 2001, 14.50

No it's not the star of the next Terminator movie, this is David Beckham Soccer, the latest computer game from Rage.

It's not just your run-of-the-mill football game with a star on the front cover. Players get the chance to control a very life-like David Beckham.

For a cool 1m, David has agreed to spend three years promoting the game, which includes footie tips from the player.

The game uses the increasingly popular technique of motion-capture so the characters don't just look like the players, they move like them too.

Availability

The game will be available on the Gameboy Advance and Playstation straight away with X-box and Playstation 2 versions coming out in time for the World Cup 2002. No word yet on a PC version though.

Perhaps they'll offer a software patch when he changes his hairstyle??
