750 million phone messages are sent every day across the planet and young people are leading the way.
Millions more are sent via the internet.
That's according to the GSM Association which represents mobile companies.
Global language
GSM boss Robert Conway says "It's created a new global language."
"What's remarkable is that kids in Australia and New Zealand are using the same shortcuts as those in Europe."
The text craze is strongest in Europe especially in Scandinavian countries.
There's been a huge rise in texting in the Far East, Australia and New Zealand.
