1/6 In January a giant squid more than three metres long was found off the coast of the UK. It was the first time such a huge creature had been seen in our waters in 15 years.
2/6 In July a university lecturer broke his own record for riding rollercoasters in a theme park in Germany. Richard Rodriguez set the record at 145 hours then broke it. He had to stay on the ride for eight hours at a time.
3/6 August saw a couple have a wedding that was truly out of this world! The bride was in Texas, USA, but the groom was 240 miles above the Earth in space on the International Space Station.
4/6 In August a British family had a lucky escape when a ten tonne whale jumped out of the Australian ocean - and landed on the deck of their boat!
5/6 A car was developed that was also a high speed boat. The Aquada Sports Amphibian was road - or should that be water - tested in London in September and became known as the 'Bond-car'.
6/6 Later on in September a kangaroo was hailed a hero in Oz. After finding a farmer unconscious Lulu saved his life by banging on the door of his home until his wife came out to see what was wrong.
