Teacher strike could shut schools

There might be no schoolwork if there's a strike

It looks like you may have an extra day off school on Thursday, 30 June as some teachers have voted to stay away from work to protest.

The teachers, who belong to two unions, are angry as the government wants to make changes to their pensions, which they say will leave them worse off.

There's still some discussions taking place which might stop the strike going ahead.

If the strike goes ahead it will only affect England and Wales.

The teachers belong to the National Union of Teachers and the Association of Teachers and Lecturers.

But the government says it's fair to ask teachers to pay a bit more for their pensions to balance what some workers in other jobs pay.
