Who would you nominate to carry the Olympic torch?

Ore with the Newsround's Olympic torch

Ore thinks he should carry the Olympic torch!

On its journey to London it will be carried by 8,000 people - and now you can help pick who.

The Olympic torch will travel to the capital ahead of the 2012 Olympics, and organisers want people to nominate who should carry it on part of the journey.

Nominations are submitted on the London 2012 website.

You need to be over 12 to nominate or carry the torch, you can do it through a teacher or parent - and it should be someone who you think deserves it.

David Beckham has already made his nomination - a young footballer from South London called Gabriella Roseje.

He nominated her because of her work with disadvantaged young people.

Nominations close on 29 June.
