Swansea beat Reading to move up to Premier League

Swansea players lift the trophy as they celebrate promotion to the Premier League

A hat-trick by Swansea's Scott Sinclair helped with their 4-2 victory over Reading - and earned them a place in the Premier League.

The Swans have not played in the top flight of English football since 1983 and are now the first Welsh side to reach the Premier League.

It was 3-0 at half-time but the Royals came back with two goals in eight minutes.

Joe Allen headed into his own net and Matt Mills converted a corner.

But a fourth goal for Swansea, taken by Sinclair from a penalty, sealed their win in the 80th minute.

Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers, sacked by Reading after 23 games in charge in December 2009, said: "It's fantastic. The supporters were incredible and it's nice to repay their faith and get promotion.

"It was a proper, proper game and these players deserve to be in the Premier League."
