Two whales found dead in South Uist loch, Scotland

Some of the surviving pilot whales in Loch Carron, South Uist, Scotland

Two pilot whales have been found dead in a Scottish loch, after up to 60 of the mammals were at risk of getting stranded on the shore.

They were found at the weekend and are thought to have been part of the pod that got into trouble in shallow waters in South Uist on Thursday.

Tests found one of the whales died from disease, not from being stranded, but it's not known why the other one died.

The rest of the pod has now left the loch and seems to be heading south.
