Grape-sized baby Egyptian tortoise joins Whipsnade Zoo!

This tiny tortoise, not much bigger than a grape, is Whipsnade Zoo's newest - and smallest - addition!

A baby tortoise about the size of a grape has become Whipsnade Zoo's newest, and smallest, addition!

Tiny Tim the Egyptian tortoise weighed in at just six grams when he hatched last month - that's lighter than a 50p coin!

Tim's family was saved from the hands of smugglers last year. He and his five pocket-sized siblings have now found a home at Whipsnade Zoo in Bedfordshire.

The Egyptian tortoise is one of the world's rarest tortoises.

Tiny Tim is part of a breeding programme that is hoping to boost numbers of the endangered species.
