40 snakes on a plane plot foiled in Indonesia

One of 40 pythons discovered by airport officials in Indonesia

A plot to smuggle 40 python snakes onto a plane has been busted by airport officials in Indonesia, south-east Asia.

Two men were having their bags checked by security when X-rays showed they were filled with snakes!

The pythons had been given drugs to put them to sleep.

The men were on the way to Dubai in the Middle East. The pair told investigators they had planned to sell the snakes to collectors there.

The two men, from Kuwait, have been arrested and could face up to seven years behind bars if found guilty.

The snakes have been taken to an animal quarantine centre at the airport.
