School boy on a polar mission

Parker

Teenager ready for arctic trek

A 16-year-old school boy is attempting to become the youngest person EVER to reach the North Pole.

Parker hopes his arctic expedition will raise awareness of climate change.

And he knows how tough it's going to be - because he tried to reach the North Pole last year too, but the expedition had to be called off.

He's had to do lots of training, and said the biggest dangers he'll face will be attacks from polar bears and getting cut off in open water.

Parker says one of the biggest dangers on the trip will be polar bears

Parker has had to put on weight to help him combat temperatures as low as -55C!

He'll be measuring the thickness of the snow while he is in the arctic, to help scientists monitor climate change.
