Giant lobster has lucky escape

The lobster

A giant lobster has been saved from the pot, after a fisherman decided it was too special to eat.

The creature, which measures about one metre in length and weighs more than four kilograms, was caught off the coast of West Sussex.

It's thought to be one of the biggest and oldest lobsters ever caught in Britain!

The fisherman thought the lobster was so amazing that he's donated it to the Blue Reef Aquarium in Portsmouth.

Lindsay Holloway, who works at the aquarium, said: "He's a fantastic specimen and by his size alone he has got to be at least 50 years old.

"He is an amazing creature and it's quite an achievement to have reached such an impressive age."
