Forest Green Rovers stops serving bangers and burgers

Burgers and sausages are off the menu for footie fans at Forest Green Rovers.

Club chairman Dale Vince, who's a vegan, said they stopped giving players red meat a few weeks ago thinking it would be better for their health.

Now they've decided to stop serving burgers and bangers anywhere at the Blue Square Bet Premier club's stadium in Gloucestershire.

But it's not all bad news for meat-lovers. Fish and free-range chicken will still be available.

Mr Vince said: "It seemed quite right that if red meat was not good enough to feed our players, then it wasn't good enough for our staff, fans and visitors too.

"We appreciate that some people may find this change slightly challenging, but we hope that they will try the alternatives being offered and give them a fair chance."
