Chinese New Year is here and people all over the world are celebrating the arrival of the Year of the Rabbit.

The new year started on 3 February 2011 and there have been lots of parades to celebrate, with colourful costumes and decorations. Here's a pic from a parade in America.

Chinese New Year is also known as the Spring Festival. These women in Thailand, in Asia, are wearing traditional Chinese dresses as part of their celebrations.

In Hong Kong these kids didn't dress up in traditional costumes, nor in dragon costumes, but went for the Lady Gaga look for their spot in the new year parade.

Lots of decorations are put up to celebrate, including lanterns like these. The lantern festival later in the month marks the end of the new year celebrations.
