Will a new law help cut dog attacks? Watch Ore's report

Politicians are debating whether a new law will stop the number of dog attacks in the UK.

Campaigners think the current law doesn't go far enough to protect people - and want owners to take more responsibility for their pets.

It's thought 6,000 postmen and women get attacked by dogs every year. A two-year-old boy ended up in hospital on Wednesday after getting hurt by a dog.

The government will reveal how it plans to deal with the issue later this year.

It's looking at different ideas such as bans on specific breeds and micro-chipping dogs.
