Massive floods sweep Sri Lanka

Flood victims in Sri Lanka

Heavy rain has caused massive floods in the South Asian country of Sri Lanka, and almost a million people have been affected by raging waters.

Sri Lanka needs monsoon rains to grow food, but this time around they've been too heavy and destroyed farmland and rice fields.

Eighteen people are now known to have died and 200,000 have lost their homes.

The air force are busy trying to rescue people and bring in supplies, and schools are being used as shelters.
