Two giant pandas are coming to live in Britain!

Tian Tian and Yangguang, who were born in 2003, will be the first pandas to live in the UK for 17 years when they move into Edinburgh Zoo.

They will be flown over from China and will set up home in a newly kitted-out enclosure where the zoo's gorillas used to live.

The pandas are a breeding pair and are expected to arrive in the next year, on a 10-year loan to the zoo.

Giant pandas are really endangered and experts reckon there are now only around 1,600 left in the wild in China.

Fiona Hyslop, who is Scotland's culture and external affairs minister, said it "gives Scotland an important role in securing the future of this endangered species."

The ambassador of China to the UK said: "Pandas are a Chinese national treasure. This historical agreement is a gift to the people of the UK from China."
