Queen's speech to focus on sport

The Queen is to focus on the importance of sport in her annual Christmas Day message for the very first time.

Her Majesty will talk about how sport can help build communities and create harmony all over the world.

The broadcast will include footage of her grandsons Princes William and Harry playing football with a group of children from Lesotho in Africa.

Christmas messages are usually recorded at Buckingham Palace, but this year it was recorded at Hampton Court Palace.

The broadcast will be available on the Royal Channel of the YouTube website, and will also be shown in the UK, Commonwealth countries and on the British Forces Broadcasting Service.

The Queen delivered her very first TV message live to the nation and its colonies on 25 December 1957.
