X Factor: Matt Cardle set for Christmas number one

Matt Cardle, winner of The X Factor 2010

X Factor winner Matt Cardle looks like he could have something else to celebrate on the weekend - having the Christmas number one!

His song When We Collide is way ahead in the race for the top, after selling almost 170,000 copies in two days.

Rihanna, who duetted with Matt on The X Factor final, is in the runner-up spot with What's My Name.

The original version of Matt's song, by Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro, looks like it'll go top ten on Sunday.

A song that's nearly 50 years old is number three in the midweek chart. Surfin' Bird by US rock and roll group The Trashmen has been backed by an online campaign to get it to number one.

An X Factor protest song called 4'33" by John Cage, which is four minutes and thirty-three seconds of silence, is only scraping into the top 20.
