Matt Cardle has beaten Rebecca Ferguson to win the 2010 series of the X Factor.
The former painter and decorator from Essex won the public vote after making it through to the last stage of Sunday's live final against Rebecca.
When he heard the result, Matt hugged his mentor Dannii Minogue and said: "I'm so proud."
His debut single is a cover of a Biffy Clyro track called When We Collide, and it's already a frontrunner in the race to be the Christmas number one.
After the show Matt revealed how stunned he was: "It was so shocking that it made me numb straight away and I have not really got the feeling back yet...I am still in a bit of a spin about the whole thing."
Earlier in Sunday's show, Simon Cowell said he was gutted for One Direction when they came third.
When One Direction came third, Simon Cowell said: "This is just the beginning for these boys."
But the teenagers said they'd had a great time and plan to stay together as a group.
And the signs are good for the boys, as Cheryl Cole told them "I really believe that you have a massive future ahead of you."
After performing duets with some of the biggest names in pop on Saturday, the three remaining finalists opened Sunday's show by singing with Take That.
Meanwhile, 27-year-old Rebecca said she was grateful to have made it so far on the show.
On Saturday, Cher Lloyd was the first of the four finalists to leave the competition for having the fewest viewer votes.
She seemed grateful for all the support she'd had in the competition when she spoke to Dermot, she said "Thank you to everybody who ever, ever believed in me."
