Hotseat: X Factor contestant Mary Byrne

X Factor singer Mary Byrne

Mary Byrne's X Factor dream may be over, but we haven't heard the last from the Irish singing star.

She lost the sing-off to Cher Lloyd in the semi-final, meaning she missed out on a place in the series final.

But her mentor Louis Walsh was positive about her future, saying: "Mary is on The X Factor tour and she will make an album."

Newsround's been putting YOUR questions to the Dublin diva and here's what she had to say...

Which singer or band would you most like to work with and why? Natalie, 11, Nottingham

I'd love to work with Westlife or Take That, especially now that Robbie is back in the group. In terms of singers, I've always been a big fan of Shirley Bassey so I would love to perform a duet with her!

What's the best thing about being on The X Factor? India, 10, Chelmsford

I would say the best thing about being on The X Factor is the growth in confidence that you experience each week. It's also great to be able to have met so many lovely people. Some of the other contestants feel like best friends now.

Apart from yourself, who would you like to win? Lily, 10, London

If I had to choose I would go for One Direction or Rebecca. I love Rebecca and the boys so much!
